Hello again,

“So I think we have established that I am not very good at this. And to be cliche its mostly because I'm a little bit of a perfectionist when it comes to social media and especially my blog. That combined with having what feels like no time to do anything other than architecture, means there has been considerably little here.

That's my bad, Well it's 2018 now and I'm guna try to be a little more relax and actually post at least twice this year. Haha, I joke.”

Maria January 2018

Wo~w ... great start. My intentions were in the right place but it seems I didn’t even get the chance to post them. *facepalm* The first half of this year has been beyond chaotic, but I finally feel its come to a close - or I’ve just become acclimatised to it.

Point is, I’ve loved writing on my blog the last few years and no matter how busy its not something I want to ‘give up’.

That in mind, I WILL be posting here and I’ve set myself some light-hearted rules:

1. Stop being such a perfectionist
2. Things don't have to be in chronological order
3. Talk about whatever the heck I want
4. Posts don’t have to be 10 pages long - short or long, everything is good
5. Try not to go M.I.A but if I do, these ‘sorry I’ve been inconsistent’ posts need to go.

Okay, now we’ve got that sorted and (I have adequately roasted myself), I am currently sitting by the pool on my first girls summer holiday. We went to Bulgaria, and posts about that will be around imminently.

Thank you for sticking around,

Maria x

How we all feel in January. (this was actually our version of the boxing day dip)
Good Evening,

So its now 2017, Happy new year!

Before we look ahead let's reflect;

As you all know last summer I went on what I called at the time my summer escapade. You'll also be acutely aware that apart from two blogs from Singapore, you hardly heard anything more. Which at first was not my fault because for the best part of a month I went back to the stone age and had no Wi-Fi. And then lets me honest I got lazy and then extremely busy with Uni (yes, watch this space) and as I had said renovating literally my whole house.

So I've been busy, But I still want to share everything that has happened, for my own logging and also for your interest. But be warned it is going to trickle out of the creative tap.

Well, let's move on from that and talk about the new year and what that entails for the blog. If it wasn't obvious already, the blog is still alive, and fingers crossed not due to die anytime soon. But I did originally start this blog due to my move to Japan and brand it as such. However, I no longer live in Japan, so the plan is to broaden its horizons.

If you know me I love a list, so here a little list of things you can come to expect from this platform;

  • Finishing Summer Escapade 2k16 series
  • Home Renovation & Interior Design
  • Japan - because I loved it so, I'm sure there is still plenty to talk about.
  • Being at Uni and Student Life
  • An Expansion of my Portfolio.
  • Travel (I already have trips booked)
  • Food/Drinks - who doesn't love to eat/drink!
Ideally, I would like to post at least once a week, but I'm not sure how possibly that is likely to be. Let's start once a fortnight for now. and you all have permission to pester me when I start slacking.

See you soon, on the next experience at Raffles Long Bar in Singapore so stay tuned.

Hello again,

Exams have finished and Summmer has began. And there is a lot going on. So here is a little heads up of what to expect in the upcoming months.
My summer you could say if kind of hectic, for starters I'm leaving Japan 😩. For which there will definitely be more blog content about. And at the end I've got exam results and university prep.
So if anyone is any good a math that's quite a while, and I've just said I'm quite busy. So busy with what exactly?
Well first of all I'm doing a little travelling before I head back to the UK. I am lucky enough to be visiting both Singapore and Australia through July, due to quite perfect timing if I say so my self. My mum is out there on business already. I can tell you now packing was a challenge, seeing as it's always scorching in Singapore however it's cold and wintery in Australia in July.
And if that wasn't nice, we've got to move all our stuff around the world again, as I'm moving back to the UK and my mum is moving to... You'll have to wait and see.
We've also decided that while our home in the UK is empty it is the perfect time to rennnovate and do all those jobs we have been putting off for years, as you naturally do. So I will be coordinating that.
So that's what's going on in my summer, but what I'm sure you want to know is what does that mean for you my blog readers and what the content is likely to be over the summer. Well as usual it is likely to be adhock, not in contrological order, but I really hope you enjoy it. As for the content; I plan to write about everything from Life in Japan and travelling to rennnovating and all the things in between.
Overall I think you all have a lot to look forward to, and so do I. I hope you enjoy.

My fav, I dunno what you talking about
Remember at the beginning of the year I said i would post more regularly? well how did that go... well most of you can tell I haven't posted anything since february. My bad.

I could tell you I was too busy, but that is the lamest excuse in the book. I made this blog to talk about living in Japan. and I haven't done a lot of that and now my time here is nearly at at end. Although don't worry that doesn't mean the end of the blog.

So what have I been doing while I've been MIA. Well its been kinda hectic. I sent of my university applications, I went back to the UK for interviews, I applied for Student finance (sidenote #nightmare), I went skiing quite a few times, studying my  A levels, various holidays and most recently I graduated school and I had my birthday.

See plenty of stuff to write about, please feel free if you see me around to give me a slap. I haven't completely ignored the blog though, you might have noticed so changes, it looks slightly different although I'm not completely sure about it.

But to be honest when I first came to Japan, I thought about it was going to be hard and I would have a load of grumpy posts to write, but that just isn't the case. All I have is glowing praise for the country and lifestyle, I am kind of sad to leave. Don't let me deceive you, it has its bad points but no more than any other place in the world.

Please bare with me there is more very interesting this on the way, I realise as I write this how much I've missed talking to you. I couldn't really be sure who reads my blog apart from friends and family but if there is anything you want me to talk about please leave a comment below or write to be in the contact section.  I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I'm sorry, love

Maria xx

Happy New year, welcome 2016.

Its a new year; fresh starts, time to refocus... and all that malarkey. But honestly I'm annoyed at myself for the lack of input on my blog in the last quarter of 2015, I could come up with a billion excuses but that just seems pointless.

Well as I said time to start a fresh, although its already nearly February, shhhhh. I have become kinda backlogged in posts that I planned to write about things I have done in the past 3 months, and I know some are you are waiting to hear about my half term in October and now my Christmas break, I will get there eventually sit tight (haha imagine if you are reading this standing, you get the point though).

So the plan for the blog in 2016 is, well of course carry on telling you about my experience in Japan. But not just posts about various trips, but short blogs about small activities, funny stories and university applications as that is a big part of this year.

I want to say I aim to upload once a week but I feel like I'm not sure I could keep to that. Therefore I propose 1 blog post every fortnight (2 weeks), that sounds achievable right? *fingers crossed*. But you never know look out for Bonus posts.

I hope you all are having a great start to 2016 and I WILL see you in the near future

Morning,

Just a quick update and a few anecdotes from the past few weeks.

So my cousin Amy left a few weeks ago and on the week that she left she contracted a cold probably from all the little kids in Disney. So When it came to send her home she was coughing everywhere. As you may know the Japanese are somewhat clean freaks, so sending Amy on public transport was not a great idea. The solution; face mask. They are not very effective but it is polite to abide by their rules. It does make for some funny photos.

This month I also got the results for both my A levels and my Intermediate ballet exam. I passed the ballet exam, which I am so happy about as I have been working for it a long time. I am also amazed as I told you how badly I thought the pointe work went. As for the A levels, I did quite well in those too, not as great as I suppose I wanted; but definitely improved compared to last year. I finished 1 A level this year (DT) with a C, I also did 2 AS levels; physics and chemistry and got Ds in both, I know that doesn't sound great but they were almost Cs and they are better than the Es I got last year and easier to improve upon next year.

We are still waiting for our furniture to arrive and we are now pining for a sofa as the floor gets tiresome.

Hope you like my blog, please leave comments on what you would like to read about.

Hi, I'm Maria

I'm 18 and in the middle of my A-levels. Getting my AS results on August, 13th to be exact, scary. However, instead of going back to school to study A2s in England at my school, I thought I'd be a little different. I plan to study in Japan for 6 months.

Crazy right and why you may ask?

Well... my mum travels with work a lot and I normally get left behind, aw poor me :(. Well about a month ago my mum was told she was going to Japan for about a year. Her company calls it a 'Global Assignment', anyways I get to come with! Ah!

My Mum got a tonne of paperwork and advice about what it's like and the dos and don'ts of living abroad/Japan. But there is little information about what it is like for Teens, Students, etc. So I'm going in blind almost. So I thought I should create my own blog so that any of you fortunate enough to have the opportunity to live abroad don't have to go through the same. Or if you're interested in what Japan is like or are just genuinely nosey like me, then join me on the crazy adventuresome people call life.

I choose to call this blog; How to solve a problem like Maria, because well my name is Maria and I just so happen to love the sound of music. I didn't want to specify too much with the blog name because then it gets difficult; like if I called it 'Maria in Japan' or 'Solving a problem like Japan' it gets a bit typecast. It becomes a blog only to do with my time in Japan, we'll see how it goes as I've never done this before, but what if  I enjoy blogging I wouldn't want to have to stop or change the title. Let me know what you think? It might be terrible.

More about me;
In England, I live in Surrey. I love to dance, mostly ballet, and I recently did my Intermediate exam (went so bad). Next year, Sept 2016, I hope to go to university to study architecture, not entirely sure where yet but that doesn't need to be decided yet.

I have a Dog, called Belle, she's a rough collie. She is so cuddly and soppy most of the time, I have had here since I was 7 so we are really close. I have an amazing family, they are always there for you and they are hilariously funny. I have 2 Best friends; Erin and Trevyn and they are just amazing, always there for you. I also have a Boyfriend, we've been going out for a while now (2 and a bit years). All these things make leaving considerably hard, but I won't go into too much detail, as this is only meant to be an introduction and it will have its own post in due course, plus I could be here for hours if I don't stop.

Thank you, talk soon

Maria xx
